Dhaka: Bangladesh has defeated Pakistan by 8 wickets in the first ODI match. In this match held in Dhaka, the Pakistani team, after losing the toss and coming to bat first, was all out for 114 runs in 30.4 overs. Nahid Rana broke the back of Pakistani batting by taking 5 wickets for Bangladesh. Whereas, Mehdi Hasan Miraj got 3 wickets. Hafeem Ashraf scored the maximum 37 runs for Pakistan.
In reply, the host team achieved the target by losing 2 wickets in just 15.1 overs. The hero of this stormy victory of Bangladesh was Tanjid Hasan Tamim, who played an unbeaten inning of 67 runs in 42 balls.
Bangladesh’s first wicket fell in the third over in the form of Saif Hasan (4). But after this Tanjeed and Nazmul Hussain Shanto (27) added 82 runs for the second wicket and took the team closer to victory. However, Mohammad Wasim dismissed Shanto in the 14th over. After this, Tanjeed along with Liton Das (3) led Bangladesh to victory. Tanjeed hit 5 sixes and 7 fours in his innings.
Earlier, apart from Ashraf, only ODI debutants Sahibzada Farhan (27) and Maaz Sadaqat (18) could touch double figures for Pakistan. Pakistan had a good start. Farhan and Sadaqat had added 41 runs for the first wicket. But on the last ball of the 10th over, Rana dismissed Farhan and took his first wicket. After this there was a flurry of wickets. Rana also sent Sadaqat, Shamil Hussain (4), Mohammad Rizwan (1) and Salman Aga (5) to the pavilion. Pakistan’s score became 69 runs for 5 wickets in 17.5 overs.
After this, Hussain Talat (4), Abdul Samad (0) and Shaheen Afridi were dismissed by Mehdi Hasan Miraz. Mohammad Wasim (0) was dismissed by Taskin Ahmed, taking Pakistan’s score to 82 runs for 9 wickets. Ashraf added 32 runs with Abrar Ahmed (0) for the last wicket, which saved Pakistan from major embarrassment. Mustafizur Rahman ended the Pakistani innings by dismissing Ashraf in the 31st over.
