Jasprit Bumrah To Take Massive Call On Future Plans Keeping ODI World Cup 2027 In Mind

India lifted their record third title when they won the T20 World Cup 2026 final by defeating New Zealand. Jasprit Bumrah was the star of India’s victorious campaign, taking 14 wickets and finishing as the tournament’s top wicket-taker.

He was also the Player of the Match in the final, taking 4 wickets for 15 runs. He has been India’s MVP for the past few tournaments and will also be the main weapon in India’s next ICC tournament conquest in the ODI World Cup 2027. For that, some big steps might be taken regarding his immediate future.

As part of his workload management, and keeping the ODI World Cup 2027 in mind, Jasprit Bumrah will cut down on his involvement in T20Is for the foreseeable future, according to a report by PTI. He will continue playing Test matches with India’s spot in the WTC 2027 final hanging in the balance.

The report has also stated that Jasprit Bumrah is keen to play the Los Angeles Olympics in 2028, although that remains a longer goal.

‘He Will Concentrate On ODIs’

A BCCI source informed PTI that the India team will play 30-35 games between now and the ODI World Cup 2027, and Jasprit Bumrah is likely to play all of them. Hence, the team management cannot afford taking chances on his workload by playing him in T20Is.

“Obviously, Bumrah’s fitness, as always, is key to any of India’s global campaign, and hence the Indian team management will have to be very careful and prioritise the formats. Keep Test cricket aside, which he will obviously play, but in the 50-over World Cup cycle, he will concentrate more on ODIs. There will be around 30-35 odd games, and one can’t take chances,” the source stated.
