Relief for MLAs Danam Nagender, Kadiyam Srihari; Telangana Speaker dismisses disqualification petitions

Hyderabad: Telangana Legislative Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar has dismissed disqualification petitions against MLAs Danam Nagender and Kadiyam Srihari, Tv9 Telugu reported.

The verdict stated that there is no evidence to prove that the two MLAs have defected from the BRS to the Congress.

The Speaker announced the decision ahead of a hearing at the Supreme Court on Thursday and has given a clean chit to all ten MLAs who have faced allegations of party defection.

Who are the ten MLAs accused of defection?

The MLAs include Tellam Venkat Rao, Bandla Krishna Mohan Reddy, Gudem Mahipal Reddy, Prakash Goud, and Arikepudi Gandhi, Pochampally Srinivas Reddy, Kale Yadaya, and Sanjay Kumar, Danam Nagender and Kadiyam Srihari.

After the verdict, Danam Nagender said that he had done nothing wrong and that he contested as an MP from the Congress out of his own volition.

“No one has the right to trample on my fundamental right and I have been suffering for six months. The Speaker has also been harassed for six months,” he added.

BRS MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy and BJP MLA Yeleti Maheshwar Reddy had filed petitions seeking disqualification of Danam Nagender, who joined the Congress after winning as a BRS candidate from Khairatabad.

Qutbullapur MLA KV Vivekananda Goud had filed a disqualification petition questioning the joining of Kadiyam Srihari, who contested from Station Ghanpur from the BRS. The Supreme Court will hear the disqualification petitions of the MLAs tomorrow.
