GENEVA (AP) – A bus fire in Kerzers, a town located approximately 25 kilometers west of Bern, Switzerland, resulted in the deaths of six individuals and left three others with serious injuries, according to local police on Tuesday.

The incident occurred on Tuesday evening, and authorities are investigating the cause, which police spokesperson Frederic Papaux suggested may have been a ‘voluntary act.’ The regional transport bus, operated by PostBus, was fully engulfed in flames when emergency services arrived.

Images from the scene depicted flames consuming the bus, prompting a rapid response from rescue teams. Upon arrival, emergency personnel confirmed that the vehicle was entirely engulfed in flames, as stated by the regional government.

Ambulance and helicopter teams transported the three individuals with severe injuries to nearby hospitals, while two additional passengers received treatment at the scene.
