New Delhi: A Turkish woman was killed after allegedly being hit by a speeding Audi car in Punjab’s Zirakpur. The accident took place near M-Care Hospital on VIP Road late on Monday night. The driver fled the scene after the incident, police said
The foreign national, identified as Mavluda, came to the hospital to visit a patient along with her friend. She was leaving the hospital when a speeding black Audi car hit her, and the driver allegedly fled after the accident. The accused driver is yet to be arrested, police said, adding that they are examining the CCTV footage to trace and nab him.
Mavluda was crossing the road when the car struck her. She was thrown 14 feet into the air and fell on the other side of the road. She suffered severe injuries and died on the spot. Her friend, Abhishek, who was with her at the time, also sustained minor injuries.
The woman had visited the hospital to meet Abhishek’s pregnant wife. While stepping out of the hospital and going toward the main road, the Audi car hit them suddenly.
The passersby informed the police about the accident. The driver of the car managed to flee the spot before the police arrived. Some locals alleged that the police team came an hour after they informed them about the incident.
Upon reaching the spot, police took the body into custody and sent it to for the post-mortem examination. Police said they are scanning the CCTV footage from nearby cameras to identify the Audi driver and arrest him.
