Supply of blue cylinders decreased in these cities of India, crisis deepened on hotels and restaurants, government took this step

Due to the US-Iran war, the supply of commercial gas cylinders in the country has suddenly reduced. Due to this, hotels and restaurants in many cities are in danger of closure. If the situation does not improve soon, many restaurants will be on the verge of closure in the next 48 hours. Actually, due to the war in West Asia, the fuel supply route has been affected. A large amount of LPG is imported into India through this route, where the movement of cargo ships has stopped.

Hotel-restaurant on the verge of closure in Mumbai

According to hotel associations of Mumbai, the supply of commercial gas cylinders has decreased by 10 to 20 percent in the last few days. Restaurant owners are ordering gas cylinders, but are not getting delivery on time. Due to this, it has become difficult to run the kitchens of hotels that feed thousands of customers every day. Currently the shortage of gas is continuously increasing. If the situation does not improve, many restaurants in Mumbai may close in the next two days.

According to AHAR, an organization related to hotels and restaurants, the shortage of commercial gas cylinders is increasing in Mumbai and surrounding areas. There is also a danger of black marketing and price increase. Many small hotel owners do not have gas stock, so they depend on the daily supply. If this situation continues then it may become difficult to pay the salaries of the employees and electricity bills.

Ban on cylinder delivery in Jaipur

Here, in Rajasthan, oil companies have imposed an unannounced ban on the delivery of commercial gas cylinders in view of the decreasing stock of LPG.
Gas agencies have been messaged and ordered not to take orders for commercial cylinders. Gas agencies have been asked to focus only on delivery of cylinders for domestic use. This decision of the companies will affect industrial units, restaurants and hotels. At the same time, due to the beginning of the wedding season, there may be more shortage of gas supply. In Jaipur alone, more than 50 thousand hotels and restaurants are in danger of closure.

Hotel closure warning in Bengaluru

There has been a warning of closure of hotels and restaurants in IT hub Bengaluru. Bengaluru Hotels Association has said that due to sudden stoppage of commercial LPG supply, the functioning of hotels may be affected from March 10. If this problem continues then it will affect the common people, students and IT professionals who depend on hotels for daily food.

Impact on restaurants and bakeries in Kolkata

In Kolkata too, shortage of commercial LPG may affect the restaurant and bakery business. On Monday, concern increased among those businesses which depend on LPG for their work. This happened because the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has stopped the supply of non-domestic LPG cylinders. People associated with the hospitality and food industry say that if the supply of commercial LPG remains stopped, the business may soon be seriously affected.

The government took this step

The government has taken important steps to deal with the gas shortage in the country. The Petroleum Ministry has instructed oil refineries to increase the production of LPG and give the additional production for domestic use. The ministry said that priority has been given to domestic LPG supply. To prevent hoarding and black marketing, a 25-day inter-booking rule has been implemented. Apart from this, imported LPG is being given priority to essential non-domestic sectors like hospitals and educational institutions. However, to review the demands related to LPG supply for the remaining non-domestic sectors like restaurants, hotels and other industries, a committee of three Executive Directors (EDs) of Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) has been formed, which will examine the requests received from these sectors.
