New Delhi: A shocking case has come to light from Maharashtra’s Buldhana where a woman was murdered and the incident was made to look like an ‘accident’. Police investigations revealed that a man paid the owner of a car to murder his wife.
What’s the case
The husband tried to kill his wife on three occasions by lacing her food with poison. However, his efforts went in vain. Then, he got a hitman to carry out the job. The hitman was paid Rs 1 lakh. The man got his wife killed in a way that it looked like an ‘accident’, NDTV reported.
Police said Prakash Gawande, the accused, hired a contract killer to kill his wife, Vrushali, who was a teacher by profession.
How the murder was executed
It was on March 2 that a white Tata Intra car ran over Vrushali, who was riding a scooter. The car hit the woman’s vehicle so hard that she fell on the road and instantly died. The crash looked like a horrible road accident. While probing the accident, the police got suspicious of the Tata Intra car bearing the number plate MH 28 BB 5753 – which was spotted lingering near the victim.
The owner of the car Manish Suryavanshi was detained. Police started interrogating him. Suryavanshi spilled the beans and said that the victim’s husband had hatched a plot to kill her, the report said.
Further investigations revealed that Prakash hired contract killer — Mangesh Chulkar — for Rs 1 lakh to get his wife murdered. Chulkar then sent the arrested driver, Suryavanshi, to ram Vrushali’s vehicle.
All the three accused have been arrested following investigation, and a case filed against them. The trio has been remanded to three-day police custody.
Police suspected that a domestic dispute led to the crime, but the exact cause is yet to be ascertained.
