Bangladeshi tailor Mohammad Babul Hossain became a victim of repeated fraud in his desire to go abroad. Recently, after paying Tk 3.6 lakh for Thailand, his visa-stamp was found to be fake at the airport. Crying video of debt-ridden Babul has gone viral.
Dreaming of a better life, many people take loans and go abroad. But when this dream is broken, its pain cannot be seen. A video of one such person crying over his fate is going viral on social media. The name of this person seen in the video is Mohammad Babul Hosain. 35 year old Babul is a resident of Manikganj, Bangladesh and is a tailor by profession. When he came to know at the airport that he had been cheated, he started crying bitterly. Immigration officials told Babul that both his visa and ticket to Thailand were fake. Upon hearing this, Babylon was completely devastated.
Babul somehow managed to support his family with the earnings from his small tailoring shop. When the difficulties increased, he started trying to work abroad from 2020. But luck did not favor him and he became a victim of fraud several times. In the year 2021, he gave 2.5 lakh taka (about 1.8 lakh Indian rupees) to a person, but could not go abroad and the money was also lost. After this, he gave 50,000 Taka to someone else to go to Saudi Arabia, but did not get a visa there either. In the same year 2024, he signed a deal of 7.5 lakh taka with an agency to go to Belarus. About 30,000 taka advance was also given. But this also turned out to be a deception.
This time Babul was introduced to a man named Sohail through a YouTube channel. Sohail and another person named Afridi contacted Babul. He promised to get a job in a company named ‘Beedi Food’ of Thailand, in which a salary of 50,000 taka was to be given every month. Trusting him, Babul sent him 3.6 lakh taka (about 2.7 lakh Indian rupees) in installments. To raise this money, Babul sold the goods of his shop and also took loan from the villagers. When Babul reached Dhaka airport on Sunday morning to catch the flight, he came to know that all his documents were fake. Babul cried and said, ‘I don’t know how I will repay this debt. Everyone in the village knows that I am going abroad. Now I don’t even have the courage to go back home.
