Lucknow 1090 Chauraha Flyover: To provide relief from traffic jam at 1090 Chauraha and Samtamul Chowk in Lucknow, a 2.02 km long 4 lane flyover is going to be built. This project, to be built at a cost of about Rs 570 crore in the third phase of the Green Corridor Scheme, is targeted to be completed by 2028.

Long traffic jams are often seen at 1090 intersection and Samtamul Chowk, which are among the busiest roads of Lucknow city. Many times it becomes difficult for people to pass through here during peak hours. Now there is news of relief for the city residents. Final approval has been given to the 4 lane flyover to be built from Baikunthdham to La Martiniere Boys School under the third phase of the Green Corridor Scheme. The managing committee that oversees the monuments and parks has issued the necessary NOC for this project. With this, the way for the construction of this important flyover has almost been cleared.

The flyover will be 2 kilometers long

The length of the proposed flyover will be about 2.02 kilometers and it will be made of four lanes. The estimated cost of this project is said to be around Rs 570 crore. According to officials, the target to complete its construction work has been set by the year 2028. Green Corridor Project Manager A.K. According to Sengar, this flyover will not pass directly over the 1090 intersection, but will pass through it. This will not affect the existing structure of the intersection and will also reduce traffic pressure.

The tender process will be completed in three months

The tender process for this project is planned to be completed in the next three months. The route of the flyover will pass through several parts of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Gomti Park and Gomti Vihar located near the 1090 intersection. Since this area comes near monuments and parks, it was necessary to take permission from the management committee before construction here. This plan was presented in detail in the meeting chaired by Principal Secretary Housing on 20 February, after which NOC was given with some conditions.

There will be no harm to the statues and greenery of the parks

It was also decided in the meeting that the statues and other structures in the parks will not be damaged in any way during the construction of the flyover. Apart from this, the greenery and beauty of the parks will also be protected. Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) will restore the greenery and original appearance of the parks after construction at its own expense. The ownership of land will not change in the areas where construction will take place.

Relief from traffic jam, time will be saved

Currently, areas like 1090 intersection, Samtamulak Chowk, Kalidas Marg and Vikramaditya Marg face long traffic jams during peak times. This problem is expected to reduce significantly after the construction of the new flyover. After the construction of this flyover, the journey of people going from IIM Road towards Gomti Nagar, Shaheed Path, Ekana Stadium, Airport and Ayodhya Road will become easier. It is estimated that 10 to 20 minutes of passengers’ time can be saved.

Important part of Green Corridor project

The Green Corridor project being developed on the banks of Gomti River is considered to be one of the biggest connectivity schemes of Lucknow. Under this project, about 28 km long signal-free route is being developed on both the banks of the river.

In the first phase of the Green Corridor, work from IIM Road to Pakka Bridge has been completed, while in the second phase, construction is going on at a fast pace in Nishatganj and other parts. This flyover to be built in the third phase is considered an important link of this entire project. Officials believe that after its completion, the traffic system in Lucknow will improve and people will get a lot of relief from the jam.
