Punjab floods: Salman’s Being Human foundation sends boats, to adopt villages

Actor Salman Khan, also known for his philanthropy, has stepped forward to support Punjab amid severe flooding caused by heavy rains. His ‘Being Human Foundation’ has dispatched five boats to bolster rescue operations in flood-affected areas.

Three of these boats are actively engaged in rescuing stranded residents, delivering food, and aiding volunteers on the ground. The remaining two were formally handed over at the Ferozepur border. Punjab Tourism Chairman Deepak Bali also confirmed the foundation’s plans to adopt flood-hit border villages near Husainiwala.

The actor also addressed the issue during , on Sunday. Speaking on the show, he mentioned, “We are doing as much as we can. We have contributed to the relief fund. Even famous singers from Punjab are helping in every way they can, keeping their rivalries aside.”

Several celebrities from the Hindi and Punjabi film industry have stepped forward to help the people of Punjab. Comedian-actor Kapil Sharma expressed his sorrow over the situation in Punjab via social media. “Feeling heartbroken seeing my Punjab suffering due to floods. My prayers are with all the families affected. We have always stood together in tough times, and I am sure with love and support we will overcome this too. Stay strong, we are with you (sic),” Sharma wrote.

Sonu Sood, an actor with roots in Punjab, stated, “Punjab is my soul, we must ensure every family gets their cattle back. It’s not just compensation; it’s about restoring dignity and survival.”

Local artistes and actors have also joined hands to offer their assistance. Inderjit Singh Nikku, a Punjabi singer, said, “We are singers, we want people to inspire and help wherever the help was less and administration did not reach, we are trying to reach and help, we have mosquito nets, Tarpaulins and each necessary items required.”

Efforts are not limited to monetary donations; they extend to adopting villages and ensuring the provision of essential supplies. Gurdas Maan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ammy Virk are among the many celebrities contributing significantly to relief work. Their actions include adopting villages, providing medical supplies, and organising logistics for ongoing relief operations.

Karan Aujla and Gippy Grewal have offered practical support, such as arranging motorboats and distributing silage for cattle.
