Preeti Adani
Dr. Preeti Adani, Chairperson of Adani Foundation, on the stage of the Asian Venture Playenthropy Network (AVPN) Summit held in Hong Kong, challenged the traditional definition of philanthropy and described it as a mission of responsibility and partnership ahead of charity. His address not only touched the heart, but also gave a new direction to the ways of development and social service.
Woman of Kutch and seeds sown in drought: Preity Adani
Dr. Adani started his views with an extraordinary story in Kutch region of Gujarat. He saw a woman sowing seeds on desert, barren land. When asked why he was sowing seeds in such a dry land, the woman’s answer was, “One day the rain will come. If there is no seeds, then the rain will also be useless.” Through this story, Dr. Adani put forward the faith and patience in the core of social service. He said that this thinking really lays the foundation of change.
Travel from a dentist to a social worker
Dr. Preeti Adani, who started her career as a young dentist in Ahmedabad, dedicated her life to social service by adopting her husband Gautam Adani’s nation building approach. He shared on the stage that Gautam Adani believes that real development is not only in infrastructure or business, but is hidden in permanent development of school, hospital and livelihood. This thinking became the basis of the establishment of Adani Foundation in 1996.
Not philanthropy, model of shared responsibility
Today the Adani Foundation is counted among the biggest social influence organizations in India. It is working in important areas like education, health, nutrition, permanent livelihood, rural structure and climate change. So far, it has reached more than 7,000 villages and about 96 lakh people. It has a support of 7 billion dollar family philanthropy commitment. Dr. Adani said that more important than these figures are those stories which are hidden behind every change.
Dr. Adani shared three inspiring stories of change
Dr. Adani mentioned three such stories on the stage, which shows the real face of the work of Adani Foundation.
- Dynasty of Gujarat: Only a three -year -old child, whose weight was just eight kg. A local female volunteer informed her mother about the correct nutrition and made the child healthy again.
- Rekha, Maharashtra: A widow of two children, who defeated the disappointment of life and became the first woman’s milk chilling center operator of the village. He inspired more than a hundred women to become self -sufficient.
- Sonal, Mundra: After studying from Adani School, he earned a master’s degree in Ireland and is now working in Apple.
Dr. Adani said that these people have become a source of hope and inspiration for others, not only beneficiaries.
This is the time of commitment, not applause: Preeti Adani
At the end of her address, Dr. Preeti Adani said that the change is not only from donating, but when we make help capable and make it worth helping, only then real change is possible. He stressed that this is the time to become co-producer-if the government, business and society together come forward as a partner, then we can bring such changes that leave the effect for generations. He said, we have to become such a generation that sows seeds even in drought, because he is confident of raining rain. And when the rain comes, history will be witness that someone had sown the seed of hope.
