Team India did something which had never happened before in the history of T20 World Cup. In the final of the T20 World Cup 2026 played in Ahmedabad, the Indian team defeated New Zealand by 96 runs and successfully defended their title and captured the trophy for the second consecutive time. Everyone was jubilant at the success of the team captained by Suryakumar Yadav and everyone from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to stalwarts like Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli congratulated everyone on this victory.

In the final played on March 8 at Narendra Modi Stadium, Team India batted first and scored 255 runs. Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan and Abhishek Sharma scored strong half-centuries, while in the end Shivam Dubey also scored a quick 26 runs. In response, on the strength of Akshar Patel and Jasprit Bumrah, Team India defeated New Zealand for just 159 runs and won the title.
