Dhoni and Rohit are two of the most successful captains in Indian cricket. Dhoni led India to their maiden T20 World Cup title in his first tournament as captain in the inuagural edition of the tournament in 2007. He led the team to their second ODI World Cup title in 2011, before winning the Champions Trophy in 2013. Dhoni remains the only captain in the world to have won all three major ICC limited-overs trophies as captain.
Rohit, on the other hand, helped India bring an end to their over a decade-long ICC title wait by clinching their second T20 World Cup trophy in 2014. Rohit, who earlier led India to the final of the 2023 ODI World Cup, won back-to-back ICC titles as captain after inspiring the team to glory in the Champions Trophy last year.
New Zealand win toss, opt to field in final
New Zealand won the toss and opted to bowl first in the T20 World Cup 2026 final against India at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday. While India opted for an unchanged playing XI, New Zealand made one change in their playing XI that surprised many. The Kiwis dropped off-spinner Cole McConchie to bring in pacer Jacob Duffy.
The move left many stumped as off-spinners have troubled India’s opener Abhishek Sharma and other left-handers in their line-up.
