On the occasion of Women’s Day 2026, Thalapathy Vijay indirectly mentioned his divorce controversy in his speech. He said, “Don’t worry about the problems that are going on around me recently. These issues are not worth your while. I will handle them myself.” Vijay also said that he feels most sad when his fans become sad or upset due to their personal problems.

Amidst the divorce controversy, Vijay’s wife Sangeeta has filed a new petition in Chengalpattu District Court. In this, he has sought an interim order, so that he can live in the couple’s marital home, Neelankarai, during the case. He says that he has no other home in India and cannot have a place to live while the case is pending.

According to the divorce petition, Sangeeta came to know in April 2021 that Vijay was allegedly having an extra-marital affair with an actress. The petition states that this relationship continued despite assurances of ending it, causing her to feel extreme emotional pain and betrayal in her marriage. If speculations are to be believed, Vijay is in a relationship with actress Trisha Krishnan.
