Nepal’s economy is going through a bad phase. The performance of the youth is not ending even after the removal of the ban from social media. Now his issue is unemployment and bad economic conditions of the country. PM Oli has resigned. Pictures of arson are going viral in Parliament. An example of how Nepal’s condition is can be understood from the data of the debt management office here. In the year 2023, Nepal had a debt of Rs 24 lakh crore, which increased to Rs 26 lakh crore in 2024.
Now it has been claimed in many reports that posters of Chinese leaders have been torn in Kathmandu on Tuesday. By doing this, the message is being given that the people of Nepal will no longer tolerate the intervention of China. The China which is working to print Nepal’s currency. He is investing in the country and has been increasing its intervention year after year.
Why does Nepal printed from China?
Last year, Nepal Rashtra Bank had given a contract to printing new notes of 100 rupees to a Chinese company, in which the map was also shown to be changed. This created a controversy because the political map which was approved by Nepal’s cabinet in the note, which was controversial. Lipulekh, Kalapani and Limpiadhura were shown as part of the country in the map. India described Nepal’s claim as destabilizing relations.
The central bank of Nepal gave a contract to design, print and supply 30 crore notes of Rs 100-100 from the Chinese company. The estimated cost of printing of notes was stated to be US $ 89.9 lakh. This was not the first time that Nepal printed currency in China.

There was a dispute over this Nepal note printed in China.
In 2017 too, Nepal Rashtriya Bank (NRB) gave China Banknote Printing and Minting Corporation (CBPM) 24 million 1000 rupee notes. The delivery of these notes was said to be very important as they were to be used to help the earthquake victims.
Now the question is why Nepal is printing its notes in another country. The Chinese news portal Xinhunet report claimed that Nepal printed its currency in China several times. The company here offered Nepal to print notes at a low price. In the report, the then Governor of Nepali Rashtra Bank, Chintamani Shivkoti, confirmed this, thanks to China, we have saved millions of rupees from printing in other countries.
Why is Nepal dependent on other countries?
Nepal is printed not only in China, India, Indonesia, France and Australia. Now the question arises that why Nepal does not print currency in its own country. There are many reasons for this. The first is to print the note, safety features such as watermarks, security threads, microprinting, holograms are required. If Nepal does not have modern printing technology machines, then they can live up to their standards.
High security processes are required to prevent fake notes so that such notes cannot be fraudulent. Therefore, Nepal is dependent on other countries which have high security printing presses with better technology.
Now the question is why Nepal does not prepare its system. The answer is that if Nepal itself makes his security printing press, then he will have to invest heavily. The economy here is not like developed countries. This is the reason why it is cheaper to publish Nepal abroad. Not only Nepal, many small countries like Bhutan, Maldives and Mauritius get their currency published in countries like Britain, Germany, France, India and China.
