The main target of the attack was the underground bunker that was built for Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

According to the Israeli Army, this bunker was a secure emergency base built for Iran’s Supreme Leader to handle operations and strategy during the war. However, Khamenei did not use it, as he had already died in the first attacks during ‘Operation Roaring Lion’. Even after Khamenei’s death, many senior officials of the Iranian government continued to use this compound.

This compound was an important command center of the Iranian leadership
The Israeli Air Force said that Iran had spent several years developing this underground site. Its purpose was to create a secure base to pursue military plans against Israel and the West. According to the army statement, this bunker was spread under several streets in the center of Tehran and had several entry points and rooms where senior leaders of the Iranian regime used to gather. Israel says that the destruction of this bunker has dealt a major blow to the command and control capability of the Iranian regime.
Ayatollah Ali Khamenei killed in joint attack
Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran’s supreme leader for more than three decades, was killed in joint strikes by the United States and Israel. He was 86 years old. Iranian state media confirmed his death on Sunday morning after a major attack. A few hours before this, US President Donald Trump had also said that Khamenei was killed in a joint military operation.
