Hyderabad (Telangana) [भारत] July 17 (ANI): Heavy police security was seen deployed outside Success School in Saidabad area on Friday. The deployment follows intense protests over allegations that Hindu students of Class II were allegedly asked to recite ‘Kalma’ as part of homework.
The school campus remained deserted on Friday morning, as no student or staff turned up after 9:00 am. The heavy police deployment came after a day of protests by parents and local activists who expressed their anger over alleged “religious pressure” on minor students.
Prisoner Sanjay Kumar condemned the incident
Reacting to the incident, Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar condemned the school management at X and described the incident as a “direct attack” on religious freedom. “Forcing Hindu students to recite Kalma in school is a dangerous and unacceptable act. This is a direct attack on freedom of religion and cannot be ignored. The Telangana government should immediately take strict action against the management of Success School, Saidabad,” the minister posted.
He also questioned the silence of other political factions and said, “Why are self-proclaimed secular voices silent now? If such incidents are ignored today, tomorrow they will spread across Telangana. BJP will never allow Hindu faith, traditions and culture to be trampled.”

What is the whole matter?
The controversy came to light on Wednesday evening after parents discovered the nature of the school work given to the class. According to Hyderabad Police, there were 25 students in the class, including a Hindu student. The teacher allegedly instructed the entire class to recite the Kalma and Surah Fatiha as part of daily homework, following which the Hindu student’s parents contacted both the school management and the police.
The statement comes amid heightened tension in the Saidabad area, where the school management has already fired and blacklisted the teacher involved in the controversy following protests by parents and BJP workers. (ANI)
