Papamochani Ekadashi Fast 2026: In Sanatan Dharma, Ekadashi is considered a very sacred and special fast. This fast is dedicated to Lord Shri Hari Vishnu, the sustainer of the world. There are two Ekadashi fasts every month. The first in Krishna and the second in Shukla Paksha of the month. According to the English calendar, the month of March is going on, whereas according to the Hindi calendar, the month of Chaitra has started. In the month of Chaitra, fasts of Papmochani and Kamada Ekadashi are observed.
Papmochani Ekadashi fast is observed on the Ekadashi of Krishna Paksha of Chaitra month. Papamochani Ekadashi fast 2026 date and auspicious time
According to the Panchang, the Ekadashi date of Krishna Paksha of Chaitra month will start at 08:10 am on March 14, 2026. This date will end at 09:16 am on March 15, 2026. In such a situation, considering Udaya Tithi as the basis, the fast of Papamochani Ekadashi will be observed on 15th of March. This fast can be broken between 06:30 AM to 08:54 AM on March 16, 2026.
Papmochani Ekadashi puja method
- On the day of Papmochani Ekadashi, wake up in the morning before sunrise and take bath.
- After this offer Arghya to the Sun God. Then meditate on Lord Vishnu and take a resolution to fast.
- After this, place a stool or picture of Lord Vishnu in the temple of the house.
- During the puja, offer Ganga water, flowers-fruits, roli-sandalwood, turmeric, incense-lamp, sweets etc.
- Chant the mantras of Lord Vishnu.
- Recite the fast story of Papmochani Ekadashi.
- Finally, conclude the puja by performing Aarti of Lord Vishnu.
Importance of Papamochani Ekadashi
Papamochini Ekadashi gives results as per its name. Due to the effect of this fast and worship of Lord Vishnu, one gets freedom from sins committed knowingly or unknowingly. Lord Vishnu’s blessings shower, which brings happiness and good fortune. The virtuous fruit of this fast brings salvation after death.
