Pitru paksha shradh tithi: The special importance of Pitra Paksha has been told in Hinduism. How is the date of Shraddha determined?
The date of Shraddha is determined on the basis of the date on which a family has passed away. That is, if your grandfather died on Panchami Tithi, then it is considered the most auspicious to perform Shraddha on the day of Panchami Tithi in Pitru Paksha. This date is determined according to the almanac.
According to the date of death: Do Shraddha as per the date of death of your ancestor. For example, if someone died on Chaturthi of Shukla Paksha of Bhadrapada month, then Chaturthi will be shraman in Pitru Paksha.

Special dates for different types of deaths:
accidental death: People who have died due to drowning in an accident, weapon, or water, should be done on Chaturdashi Tithi.
Premature death: People who have died suddenly or in famine, can also perform Shraddha on Chaturdashi.
Shraddha of saints and saints: There is a law to perform Shraddha of ascetics and saints and saints on Dwadashi Tithi.
Shraddha of women: If Suhagin women dies, then their Shraddha is performed on Navami Tithi. This date is also called ‘Avikava Navami’.

Some important rules of Shraddha
- Shraddha should always be performed in the afternoon (in Qutup or Rohini Muhurta).
- It is very important to feed and donate to a Brahmin in Shraddha.
- Remembering the ancestors during Shraddha Karma, offer them sesame, water and kush.
- Avoid doing any auspicious or new work in the ancestral side.
