Alan Musk has formed a new political party, its name is The US Party.
Alan Musk, who was close to US President Donald Trump, has now stood up against him. Musk, the world’s richest man, gave the biggest political donation to Trump in the 2024 US presidential election. After coming to the government, Trump also awarded him an important position, but both of them got stuck with the One Big Beautiful Bill.
Musk claimed that this would increase America’s debt. At the same time, Trump was warned that if you pass this bill, they will form a new party. As soon as the bill was passed, Musk formed a new political party. Its name is The US Party. Let us know how many parties are there in America, how a party is formed and what is the similarity with India?
What is the political system in America?
There are many political parties like India in America too. Most of them have been participating in the President’s election. The history of these parties is quite old. Over time, new parties have emerged with new challenges and different ideologies. Currently there is a multi -party system in the US. Of these, Democratic and Republican parties are the most effective. Apart from these, there are Reform, Liberalian, Socialist, Natural Law, Constitution and Green parties. She has also been participating in the presidential election.

How many political parties?
Electoral systems in America are known as two party systems. This does not mean that there are only two parties there. This means that these two parties i.e. Republican Party and Democratic Party are politically effective at all three levels of the US government. Other parties, The Green Party, Liberate, Constitution Party and Natural Law Party are called third parties.
How is the election commission there?
Like the Election Commission of India, there is a Federal Election Commission in America. In India, the way new parties have to be registered with the Election Commission, similarly new parties have to be registered in the Federal Election Commission in America. These parties have to register in the Federal Election Commission when they raise money or spend money for federal elections.
Just as a party is given the status of a national or regional party according to the reach of a party in India, in the same way the Federal Election Commission in the US sees whether a party meets the national or provincial party standards by doing what kind of activities at the national or provincial level.

Registration required for alliance
If a party organization in America is active only at the state or local level, then it does not need to register in the Federal Election Commission. However, if a local branch of an already existing party such as Democratic, Republican or Liberalians etc. is formed and the local branch raises or spends on the federal election, then its organization has to be registered in the Federal Election Commission.
However, if the local party organization has to register in the Federal Election Commission, then it becomes a local party committee. In this context, a local party committee should be recognized in the state along with another Federal Party Committee. The limit of spending and raising money is set for these recognized committees.

The Democratic and Republican Party have dominated the US.
Third parties cannot get success
The Democratic and Republican Party dominated the US for about one and a half years. There is a presidential election or the state assemblies, all of these parties are dominated. The third parties in America have never been successful. In 1912, President Theodore Roosevelt formed a party called Bull Mousse. Then he received 88 electoral votes. However, this party did not rest even till the next US election.
Actually, there is no funding, media or organization, these parties do not get a place anywhere. Voters of America believe that these parties stand in elections only to cut votes. Therefore, people do not vote for these parties. Another important reason for the third parties not succeed is America’s electoral system, which fully supports the two-party system.
In fact, to win the presidential election in America, there is no obligation to get at least 50 percent of the votes like the President of India. Instead, the candidate who gets the highest vote percentage in the US is considered the winner. Since Democratic and Republican are the only two major parties in America, most of the votes go in favor of candidates of these two parties.
