Weather Today: On July 17, 2026, weather patterns will remain changeable in most parts of Jharkhand and Bihar. According to the Meteorological Department, many districts in both the states will be cloudy and there is a possibility of light to moderate rain along with thunderstorms. An alert has also been issued for lightning and strong winds in some areas. At the same time, rain activities may increase in many districts in the next three-four days, due to which the temperature will also drop.
Chances of rain amid clouds in Bihar, warning of heavy rain in some districts
On July 17, most of the districts including Patna, Gaya, Muzaffarpur, Begusarai, Madhubani, Samastipur, Nalanda, Nawada, Aurangabad, Araria, Arrah, Buxar are likely to remain cloudy throughout the day with intermittent rain or thundershowers. In districts like Araria and Begusarai, the sky will be more cloudy than normal and there may be rain and thundershowers. Whereas in Patna, Gaya, Muzaffarpur and Nalanda, the maximum temperature is expected to be between 33 to 35 degrees Celsius and the minimum is expected to be between 26 to 28 degrees Celsius.

Possibility of heavy rain in many districts between 19th and 20th July
According to the forecast of the Meteorological Department, there are indications of heavy to very heavy rain in many districts including Nalanda, Rajgir, Araria, Gaya, Madhubani on July 19 and 20. At the same time, moderate rain and thundershowers may continue in Arrah, Buxar and Samastipur. Due to continuous rain the temperature may drop by 2 to 4 degrees.
Thunderstorm and strong wind alert in Jharkhand
Many districts of Jharkhand including Ranchi, Bokaro, Chaibasa, Bano-Simdega, Jamshedpur, Dumka, Deoghar, Giridih, Daltonganj will remain cloudy on July 17 and there is a possibility of rain at many places along with strong winds at a speed of 40 to 50 km per hour and thunderstorms. The maximum temperature of Ranchi is expected to be around 28 degrees and minimum 23 degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature in Bokaro, Chaibasa and Jamshedpur will be between 32 to 34 degrees. Light to moderate rain is also likely to continue in Dhanbad, Ramgarh, Hazaribagh and Sahibganj.

How will the weather be in the coming days?
Monsoon activities will remain active in both the states from 18th to 22nd July. Most of the districts will remain cloudy, with intermittent rain and thundershowers. There is a possibility of heavy rain in many areas on July 19 and 20, which will bring down the temperature and people are expected to get relief from the humidity. The Meteorological Department has advised people to stay away from open fields, trees and electric poles during bad weather.
