It is believed that Brahma resides in the front of Kusha, Vishnu in the middle and Lord Shankar in the original part. According to a episode of Mahabharata, when Garudadeva brought Amrit Kalash from heaven, he put the urn on Kusha for a while. Kusha became even more important due to the place of nectar urn on Kusha. The person becomes pure only by the touch of Kusha.
