It is being told that he will resign from the post of Chief Minister on Thursday and file his nomination for the Upper House of Parliament (Rajya Sabha). After this BJP will take over the post of Chief Minister. According to sources, an agreement has also been reached to make Nitish Kumar’s son Nishant the Deputy Chief Minister. This major change is happening just a few months after the NDA alliance came back to power.

It is believed that Nitish Kumar will leave the state politics after going to Rajya Sabha. However, the reasons for which Nitish is leaving the post of CM and going to Rajya Sabha is not yet clear. Nitish Kumar has previously been the Agriculture Minister and Railway Minister at the Centre. Nitish, who has been holding the post of Chief Minister of Bihar since 2015, is the longest serving CM in the state.
The report claims that after the 2025 elections, the NDA ally got the post of Chief Minister, but Nitish Kumar had to give many of his important departments to BJP. He also had to hand over the Home Department to BJP, which he was handling for almost two decades. As soon as he left the Home Department, it became clear that now BJP’s dominance will increase in Bihar. Nitish Kumar took charge of the Home Department in November 2005. He did not hold this portfolio only between May 2014 and February 2015, when he resigned after JDU’s election defeat.
