The tour of England is proving to be a headache for the Indian team not only because of the results but also because of the fitness of the players. Harshit Rana and Varun Chakraborty were out due to injury during the T20 series. Then in the first match of the ODI series, captain Shubman Gill had to ‘retire hurt’. Now in the second ODI match, the team’s all-rounder Washington Sundar also got injured, due to which he was ruled out of the last match of the series to be held at Lord’s.

Sundar got injured while batting

Played in Cardiff on Thursday 16 July India-England ODI series Left-handed batsman Sundar got injured while batting in the second match. After the dismissal of Virat Kohli in the Indian innings, Sundar came to bat at number six. But he could face only 4 balls when some problem arose in his leg while running. Due to this, the physio of Team India had to come on the field and put some bandage on Sundar.

But it was of no use and perhaps the pain was too much, the effect of which was visible on Sundar. On the very next ball, while trying to play a pull shot, he gave an easy catch to the wicketkeeper. In this way, Sundar returned to the pavilion after playing only 5 balls. After this, Sundar did not come on the field again and was not even available for fielding. In such a situation, Team India did not even get a chance to use his bowling.

Was out even from the last match of the series

Now PTI report has revealed that Sundar’s injury is serious and he will not be able to take part in the last ODI match to be played at Lord’s on July 19. That means he is out of the series and his return may take time. Sundar’s injury is a blow for Team India because in the first match, he had made an unbeaten century partnership with Akshar Patel and led Team India to victory by scoring an excellent half-century.
