Iran’s weapons are not as modern as America’s, but stopping them is costly. America has to use expensive interceptors to stop Iran’s cheap missiles. Therefore, 100% protection is difficult and very expensive.
Washington: Compared to America and Israel, Iran’s weapons are not very modern or effective. But still, it is becoming difficult to stop the damage caused by their attacks. Even if 90% of the attacks are foiled, this operation is still proving to be very costly for America.
Iran is using its Shahed-136 missiles to attack American bases, oil refineries and embassies in the Middle East. The cost of a Shahed missile is around Rs 2 lakh, whereas the Pack-3 interceptor used by America to intercept it costs Rs 36 crore. THAAD defense system is also very expensive. In such a situation, it is not only difficult for America to stop Iran’s missile swarm but is also very expensive. Also, it is not possible for any defense system to identify and shoot down all the missiles coming one after the other. Therefore, there is always a possibility of some missiles destroying their targets.
Same story in Russia-Ukraine war
Russia had also used these Shahed missiles of Iran in the Russia-Ukraine war that has been going on for the last 4 years. At the same time, Ukraine, which was relying on the American defense system, had to suffer heavy losses.
