India have faced just one loss in the T20 World Cup 2026, which came against South Africa in the Super 8 stage. They were in a do-or-die situation against the West Indies, but thanks to Sanju Samson’s brilliant innings, they chased the target of 196 and made it into their sixth semi-final in T20 World Cup history.

On the other hand, England were unbeaten in the tournament in the Super 8 stage. They thumped Sri Lanka Pakistan and New Zealand to become the first team to qualify for the semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2026.

This will be the third time in the history of the T20 World Cup that India and England will meet in the semi-final. The two teams met each other in the semi-finals of the last two editions, with both winning one game each.

This has made many wonder as to who will qualify for the final if the IND vs ENG semi-final gets washed out. The answer to this will be discussed below.

If the IND vs ENG semi-final gets washed out then the match will go to reserve day. And if the officials have an extra 90 minutes on Thursday and 120 minutes on Friday to ensure that a minimum 5-over match takes place.

If neither of the scenarios is possible then the match will have no result and the result will be decided based on the Super 8 points table. This means that it will be England, who will move to the final as they finished higher in their Super 8 group compared to India.
