Surguja: In a shocking incident, a 25-year-old man killed his own father with an axe and pushed his body into an water tank in Chattisgarh’s Surguja district. The incident occurred after the father scolded him for drinking alcohol. The murder took place on Monday night.
Sharing details, the police said that the accused Prabhat Kerketta alias Leda has been identified and taken into custody. During his interrogation, the accused claimed to have killed his father by mistake.
Victim used to live alone
The victim, Paras Kerketta (50) used to live alone, while Prabhat used to live nearby in a rented accommodation. On Monday night, Prabhat reached his father’s residence in an abbreviated state.
Seeing him in that state, Paras started scolding him, which ensured an argument between the two. Angered by the scolding, Prabhat took an axe and hit his father, which resulted in the latter’s death.
After committing the crime, the accused threw his father’s body in a water tank. After this he went to a nearby shop and ate biryani. After he returned home, Prabhat went straight to sleep.
Meanwhile, neighbours who heard the altercation alerted the police, after Paras did not leave the house next morning. As per neighbours, the father-son dup regularly used to have arguments over Prabhat’s drinking habits. “The boy used to drink regularly. They fought again on Monday night,” one of the neighbours said as per Hindustan Times.
Accused attacked father with sharp open: Police
“The accused attacked his father with a sharp object, causing fatal head injuries. The body was dumped in a water tank. The accused has been arrested and an investigation is on,” the police added further
The incident took place days after a 21-year-old killed his father, cut his body into pieces and dumped it in a drum in Lucknow. The accused Akshat Pratap Singh had also said he had killed his father “by mistake”.
