Attention Blue-violet marks are emerging on the skin without injury, know what silent warning the body gives – News Himachali News Himachali

We all might have seen blue or black marks (bruises) suddenly forming on our hands and legs without any major injury. These blue-violet marks appearing on the body are sometimes normal but sometimes they are pointing towards internal signals of the body.

Dr. Manisha Arora, Internal Physician, CK Birla Hospital, says that it can be common to see blue marks or bruises on hands and feet without any obvious injury, which people often take lightly. Clinically, these bruises form when small blood vessels under the skin burst and blood spreads into the surrounding tissue. Although collisions or minor injuries are common causes, recurring or unexplained bruises may indicate an underlying problem.

thin skin

Age-related changes play an important role in this condition. Over time the skin begins to thin and the tissue that supports it weakens, causing the blood vessels to become more fragile. Its effect is especially visible on the hands and feet, where bruises can appear due to everyday activities or even slight pressure.

nutritional deficiency

Nutritional deficiency can also affect the body’s blood vessels and blood clotting process. Deficiency of vitamin C, vitamin K or vitamin B12 causes blood vessels to weaken, affecting their ability to stop bleeding. Additionally, liver disease, blood clotting disorders, or certain autoimmune conditions may also increase the risk of unnecessary bruising.

consumption of medicines

Consumption of certain medicines can also cause easy formation of bruises. Medications that affect the blood clotting process include blood thinners, certain pain relievers such as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, and long-term corticosteroid medications. These medications either slow blood clotting or weaken blood vessels, causing even minor pressure to result in obvious bruising.

Advice- Considering all these reasons, some signs should not be ignored. If bruises appear repeatedly without any reason, bleeding starts in the gums, nose or stool, or the pattern of bruising suddenly changes, it is important to seek medical advice immediately. Also, long-term use of medications like blood thinners should always be done under a doctor’s supervision.

In terms of prevention, awareness of the effects of medications, balanced nutrition and timely medical checkup can help in understanding whether bruises are normal or a sign of a serious health problem.
