Actor Vijay Deverakonda has announced scholarships for students studying in Classes 9 and 10 across 44 government schools in the Achampet division of Nagarkurnool district, through his Deverakonda Charitable Trust.
The initiative comes ahead of his much-anticipated wedding reception with actress Rashmika Mandanna, scheduled for March 4 in Hyderabad.
The announcement was made on stage in the presence of his parents and brother, drawing loud cheers from villagers in Vijay’s ancestral village of Thummanpeta, Telangana.
Grihapravesham and wedding rituals
On Monday, Vijay and Rashmika performed their grihapravesham (house-entering ceremony) and Satyanarayana Vratam puja at their new home in Thummanpeta. The couple participated in traditional rituals surrounded by family members.
The wedding celebrations included a Telugu ceremony in the morning, honouring Vijay’s cultural traditions, followed by a Kodava wedding in the evening in recognition of Rashmika’s heritage.
The couple had earlier shared glimpses of their pre-wedding festivities, which included:
- A sangeet ceremony at a hill resort in Mementos
- Haldi and mehendi functions
- A Japanese-themed dinner for guests
- Friendly cricket matches titled the “VIROSH Premier League”
- Pool volleyball sessions
Several film personalities attended the wedding, including directors and actors from the Telugu and other regional film industries.
The couple’s team had initially announced that the reception on March 4 would be an exclusive gathering for members of the film industry and select dignitaries. However, the event will now be strictly invite-only due to security reasons.
