Mamata Banerjee is being criticized everywhere after the crushing defeat of Trinamool Congress (TMC) in the West Bengal Assembly elections. Many leaders of his own party have raised questions on his way of working during his tenure.
Many leaders even resigned from various posts. Now another TMC Rajya Sabha MP Sukhendu Shekhar Roy has targeted the party and Mamata Banerjee and made a sensational claim that TMC will end in a few days.
In an interview with NDTV, Sukhendu Shekhar Roy said, “Tunmool Congress will end in a few days. The party has lost its credibility in national politics also. Now no party will join hands with Trinamool.” He also raised questions on the way the RG Kar rape case was handled during the tenure of Mamata government. He termed it wrong and said that it was an attempt to save the culprits. The police was used for this. He further said that after seeing the people’s protest, it was understood that the sentiments of the people were against the party and the party failed to understand this.
The TMC MP further said, “Party leaders had created a mountain of corruption. Can’t even imagine that. Mamata Banerjee herself could not control it.” He also raised questions on the comments made on Hindu religion. Sukhendu said that whatever Mamata said about Hindu religion was wrong. It was against our political morality. At the same time, Sukhendu also raised questions on IPAC and said that it was called after laying the red carpet to ruin the party.
Shantanu Sen resigns from the post of TMC national spokesperson
Meanwhile, former Rajya Sabha MP and TMC leader Shantanu Sen resigned from the post of national spokesperson of the party on Thursday. He criticized the party over the controversy related to the RG Kar rape and murder case and termed the defeat in the elections as public resentment towards immoral activities. This resignation has come at a time when after the crushing defeat in the assembly elections, TMC is facing difficulties like open protests, public resentment and lack of internal coordination in the party.
Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar wrote a letter against Kalyan Banerjee
At the same time, Trinamool Congress MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar has written a letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, accusing his own party’s MP Kalyan Banerjee of abusing inside the Parliament and behaving disrespectfully towards women MPs. This complaint has come amid increasing tension in the Trinamool Congress after the crushing defeat in the assembly elections, where dissatisfaction and internal conflicts have started coming to the fore. In a letter to the Lok Sabha Speaker, Kakoli sought permission to file a formal complaint and demanded action against Kalyan Banerjee. Kakoli, MP from West Bengal’s Barasat, wrote in the letter, “I request you to allow me to file a formal complaint against Trinamool Congress Lok Sabha member Kalyan Banerjee, who repeatedly abused me in the Lok Sabha. This anti-women behavior has happened with many women members and in such a situation punitive action is necessary.
