Ashwin month 2025 festival list: Every month has its own different and special significance in Hinduism. In the year 2025, the seventh month of Hinduism has started from Ashwin month i.e. September 8, Monday. This month will run from 8 September to 7 October. It will conclude on the day of Sharad Purnima in the month of October and Kartik month will start. Ashwin month is considered special for the worship of ancestors and Mother Durga.

  • Pitra Paksha- Pitra Paksha begins from this day. During this time, the ancestors are served food and pay tribute. During the Pitru Paksha, Shraddha, Tarpan is performed by law. In the year 2025, the first Shraddha in Pitru Paksha will be placed on 8 September and will run till 21 September.
  • Jeevaputrika Vrat- Jitiya Vrat is celebrated on the Ashtami date of Krishna Paksha of Ashwin month. In the year 2025, this fast will be observed on 14 September 2025.
  • Indira Ekadashi- Ekadashi date of Krishna Paksha of Ashwin month is known as Indira Ekadashi. By observing this fast, the ancestors get rid of the fear of Yamlok and attain salvation. Indira Ekadashi is on September 17, Wednesday, 2025.
  • Sarvapitri Amavasya – This is the most important and last day of the ancestral side. It is falling on 21 September in the year 2025. If you are not able to perform Shraddha during the entire Pitru Paksha, then you can perform Shraddha on this day.
  • Shardiya Navratri – Shardiya Navratri, which falls in Ashwin month, starts from 22 September. Maa Durga is worshiped during this period.
  • Saraswati call – The first day of the four -day Saraswati Puja performed during Navratri Puja is called Saraswati call. The Saraswati call will be done on 29 September in the year 2025.
  • Durga Ashtami – Ashtami of Shukla Paksha of Ashwin month is celebrated as Durga Ashtami. In the year 2025, Durga Ashtami will fall on 30 September.
  • Maha Navami – Maha Navami is the concluding day of the nine -day Durga Puja festival. Maha Navami in the year 2025 is on 1 October, Wednesday.
  • Dussehra – The festival of victory of good over evil, Vijayadashami is celebrated as the victory of religion over unrighteousness. Vijayadashami is on 2 October in the year 2025.
  • Papankusha Ekadashi – Ekadashi of Shukla Paksha of Ashwin month is known as Papankusha Ekadashi. It is on 3 October in the year 2025.
  • Sharad Purnima – Sharad Purnima is considered important in all full moon. Sharad Purnima is on 6 October in the year 2025.

What to do in Ashwin month

Jyotishacharya Ganesh Mishra said that in Ashwin month, no person should be feeled a sense of hatred and should be treated well. In the entire Ashwin month, it should be kept in mind that as much as possible, rage and keep the mind calm. Donating during this time is considered auspicious. It is said that the donor attains virtue. Sesame and ghee should be donated. In Ashwin month, special care should be taken for the cleanliness of the house. It is very auspicious to recite Maa Durga Saptashati in this month. This brings happiness in the house and the grace of mother Durga remains at home.

What not to do in Ashwin month

The festival of Sharadiya Navratri also falls in Ashwin month, so meat and liquor should not be consumed at this time. During this time, milk should be avoided and eating bitter gourd. Also, garlic, onion and white sesame should not be consumed. In addition, gourd, radish and mustard greens should not be eaten. Eating black salt, sattu, cumin and lentils should be avoided. Any type of dispute, quarrel, estrangement or stress should be avoided throughout Ashwin month. By following these things, the importance and virtue of Ashwin month is attained.
