In Dehradun, Uttarakhand, a social media influencer was attacked by some masked attackers inside a cafe. This incident happened on February 25 at around 10 pm in Clement Town area. The victim Himanshu Negi was sitting in a tea-cafe at that time. According to the complaint, the attackers beat him with belts and also kicked and punched him. This entire incident was recorded in the CCTV installed in the cafe, the video of which later went viral on social media.

Victim’s complaint and police action
According to a report in Dainik Jagran, Himanshu Negi, a resident of Pauri Srinagar, told the police that three masked men along with two identified accused, Saksham and Sahil, suddenly attacked him. He told that the attackers threw him on the ground and continued beating him.
When people nearby started gathering at the spot, the attackers fled from there. After the video went viral online, Clement Town police have registered a case and started searching for the accused.
Station in-charge Mohan Singh confirmed that a case has been registered against Saksham, Sahil and three unidentified people. Police said efforts are on to trace and arrest them.

CCTV footage of the attack spread quickly online and people reacted strongly to it. Many people expressed support for the victim and demanded strict action.
Many users tagged local police officers and raised questions about safety in public places. Some comments praised the victim for resisting her attackers, while others criticized bystanders for not intervening.
