T20 World Cup 2026: ICC’s rule for the semi-finals, due to which the match will start in the afternoon itself.

T20 World Cup 2026: T20 World Cup 2026 has now reached its final stage. After four weeks of exciting cricket, the last four teams have been decided. Defending champions India, South Africa, England and New Zealand are now left in the race for the trophy. Now all knockout matches will be played in India. The first semi-final will be between South Africa and New Zealand. Then the teams of India and England will clash in the second semi-final. The winning teams of these two matches will meet in the final.

ICC’s special rules for semi-finals

Reserve day has been kept in both the semi-finals. ICC has made these rules keeping the weather in mind. However, every effort will be made to complete the match on the scheduled day, if necessary the overs may be reduced. ICC has given extra time to complete the match, so that the use of reserve day is minimized. Extra time will be 90 minutes on scheduled days and 120 minutes on reserved days. However, for the result both the teams will have to bat at least 10 overs. If the match goes on the reserve day, the play will resume from the same position as it was on the first day.

Let us tell you, both these semi-final matches will be played from 7 pm Indian time. But if the match goes on reserve day then the timing will be changed. Actually, on the reserve day the match will start from 3 pm itself.

Where will the match start on reserve day?

If the match goes on reserve day, two situations can happen. If the match had started on the scheduled day then the match will continue from the same point from where it was stopped. If the overs were reduced on the match day, the same number of overs will be applicable on the reserve day also. The second situation is that if the match did not start in less overs on the scheduled day or the game could not start at all, then on the reserve day the match will be played in 20-20 overs only. If the reserve day is also used and there is still no result, then the next team will be decided on the basis of group position.
