Amid tensions in Central Asia, 6,004 construction workers from Uttar Pradesh working in Israel are safe. Yogi government is continuously keeping an eye on the situation. A 24×7 helpline has also been issued in coordination with the Indian Embassy and NSDC.
Amidst the news of increasing tension in Central Asia, those families whose loved ones are working abroad are the most worried. There are thousands of similar families in Uttar Pradesh too, whose sons, brothers or husbands are currently involved in construction work in Israel. Amidst this concern, the Yogi government has made it clear that all the 6,004 construction workers of Uttar Pradesh working in Israel are completely safe and their condition is being constantly monitored.
Selection was done through NSDC
All these workers were selected in the year 2024 through the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and Israel’s government body Population, Immigration and Border Authority (PIBA). These workers got the opportunity to work in different construction projects in Israel. This recruitment was done completely under the government process, so that both their job and security could be ensured.

Direct contact with embassy, situation under control
Embassy of India in Tel Aviv, Tel Aviv has issued a security advisory for all Indian citizens. It states that:

- don’t go out unnecessarily
Principal Secretary, Labor and Employment of Uttar Pradesh, Dr. M.K. Shanmuga Sundaram, India’s Ambassador to Israel J.P. Talked to Singh directly on phone. The Ambassador assured that the situation is under control and the Embassy is in touch with all Indian workers. First Secretary Dr. Garika Tejeshwar also informed that safety shelters are present in most of the buildings and workers have been instructed to stay in safe places.

On the instructions of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Labor and Employment Department is continuously reviewing the situation. Labor and Employment Minister Anil Rajbhar said that the state government considers the safety of every worker as the top priority. The department is in constant touch with NSDC and the Indian Embassy, so that immediate action can be taken in case of any emergency. Director, Employment Neha Prakash and Additional Director P.K. Pundir has also given instructions to regularly review the security arrangements in coordination with the concerned officials.

42 thousand Indians in Israel, 6,004 workers from UP
Currently about 42,000 Indian citizens are living in Israel. These include 6,004 construction workers from Uttar Pradesh. The state government says that these workers working abroad are not only taking responsibility of their families, but are also making a big contribution to the economic strength of the state. Therefore, their security cannot be a matter of compromise under any circumstances.

If needed, all possible help will be provided in collaboration with the Embassy and the Central Government. At present, the government claims that all the workers are safe and the situation is being constantly monitored.
