In ancient times, King Raghu used to rule in Ayodhya. There was a demon in his kingdom whose name was Dhundha. She used to kill and eat small children. He had received many boons, due to which no one could kill him. Once the priest of Ayodhya told King Raghu that the power of the demon Khondha could be reduced by children’s play and loud noises. Then King Raghu succeeded in killing that demon with the help of children. After this, people celebrated by applying colors and gulal, since then Dhuredi i.e. Holi festival is being celebrated.
