South Africa’s winning streak in the T20 World Cup 2026 is showing no signs of stopping. After winning all the matches of the group stage, South Africa under the captaincy of Aiden Markram also won all three matches in the Super-8 round. The African team, which has already reached the semi-finals of the tournament, defeated Zimbabwe by 5 wickets in the last match of Super-8 and maintained its 100 percent win record in this World Cup. Whereas Zimbabwe, which defeated Australia and Sri Lanka in the group stage, could not win any match in the Super-8.
South Africa won 7th consecutive match
In this match played on Sunday 1 March at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi, Zimbabwe batted first and the team could score only 154 runs. Zimbabwe’s batting was struggling from the very beginning against the South African bowling. Only captain Sikandar Raza was seen scoring runs for the team from one side and South Africa Was seen facing the bowlers. Sikandar played an inning of 73 runs in just 43 balls, on the basis of which the team could reach this score. For South Africa, young fast bowler Kwena Mafaka took 2 wickets for just 21 runs in 4 overs.
South Africa’s start was even worse and Sikandar Raza became the reason for this. He sent both the South African openers to the pavilion in the first and third overs of the innings. But after this, Ryan Rickleton, Dewald Brewis and David Miller kept the pressure on Zimbabwe by scoring runs rapidly. Although, the African team lost 5 wickets for 101 runs but the target was not very big. In such a situation, Tristan Stubbs and George Linda together easily took the team to the target in just 17.5 overs. This is South Africa’s 7th consecutive win in this tournament.
Who will South Africa face in the semi-finals?
With this victory, South Africa secured first place in Group-1 with 6 points and made it to the first semi-final. Here it will face New Zealand, which stood second in Group-2. This match will be played on March 4 at the Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata. South Africa and New Zealand are going to meet again in the semi-finals after 11 years of the 2015 ODI World Cup.
