The makers have broken their silence amid rumors regarding the budget of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film ‘Love and War’. Viral reports were saying that the cost would increase, but sources clarified that the film is being made as per the plan. The release date has also been revealed.
Veteran film director Sanjay Leela Bhansali is known for producing grand films. Recently there were reports about his next big film Love & War that its budget has reached Rs 425 crores and there is turmoil in the production. However, now reliable sources associated with the project have termed these claims as false. Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal will be seen together for the first time in the film, due to which it is being considered as the biggest casting coup of the decade.
What is the budget of ‘Love and War’?
A Bollywood Hungama report quoted a source close to the project as saying, “The budget of Love & War has increased, but so does almost every film of Sanjay Leela Bhansali. It was initially planned as a grand film of Rs 250 crore, but during the shooting the cost increased to Rs 350 crore. Bhansali never compromises with his vision and he is making this film with full passion. He is confident that this could be his best work till date. The talk of a budget of Rs 425 crore is being spread deliberately to harm the project and there is no truth in it.

Sets and vision of ‘Love and War’: Not VFX, real era recreation
The report further quoted the source as saying, “Unlike many VFX-heavy films, most of Love and War has been shot on large sets, where the past has been recreated. This does not increase the cost as much as is being estimated. Anyone who understands filmmaking will say that the figure of Rs 425 crore is baseless. The truth is that Love and War is a Rs 350 crore film, and the makers are planning to spend around Rs 30 crore on marketing. In this way the total cost will go up to around Rs 380 crores.”

Release plan and shooting update of ‘Love and War’
The shooting of ‘Love and War’ is expected to be completed by June. According to the report, the release of the film has now been fixed in 2027. Interestingly, it is planned to be released between two Ranbir Kapoor starrer ‘Ramayana’ films, due to which the box office competition may become more interesting.
