revealed there was an explosion close to where she and her team were sheltering at the Dubai International Airport amid the ongoing conflict between Iran, Israel and the US. Iran-linked attacks in the Gulf region have led to the airspace being closed, as all flights in the UAE remain suspended.

Sindhu, who is stuck at the Dubai airport with her team, said it was a tense and frightening moment for her after her coach found himself close to the smoke and debris from the blast. The double Olympic medallist took to social media to share her ordeal and said the situation is worsening with every passing hour.

However, she insisted that she and her team are safe now after being moved to a secure location. The Indian badminton star lauded the Dubai authorities and the Indian High Commission in Dubai for their support amid the ongoing crisis. Sindhu said she is trying to rest, hoping for the situation to ease.

‘The ordeal continues to unfold, and the situation is becoming more frightening by the hour. A few hours ago, there was an explosion close to where we were holed up at the airport. My coach had to quickly run out of the area as he was closest to the smoke and debris. It was an extremely tense and scary moment for all of us,’ Sindhu wrote on X.

‘We are all safe now and have been moved to a more secure place, thanks to the tireless efforts of the staff at Dubai Airport and the Dubai authorities. A special thanks as well to the Indian High Commission in Dubai for their incredible support and constant assistance in helping keep us safe. For now, we are trying to get some rest and hold on to hope as we wait for things to settle,’ she added.

She revealed how hearing missiles being intercepted overhead was a terrifying experience for her.

Sindhu was on her way to Birmingham, UK, for the All England Open with her team when flights were cancelled at the Dubai airport due to the escalations in tensions between Israel, US and Iran. Iran fired missiles across multiple countries in the Gulf region after being bombed in a joint-operation by Israel and the US.

The All England Open is set to get underway on Tuesday, March 03 and Sindhu was on her way to take part in the tournament. Sindhu had revealed on Saturday that she was stranded at the Dubai airport along with thousands of passengers, including many families, amid the ongoing conflict.
