A unique and surprising scene was seen in the final of Ranji Trophy 2025-26. On the fifth and last day of the final match played between Karnataka and Jammu and Kashmir at the KSCA Cricket Ground in Hubli, Indian team’s star batsman KL Rahul attracted everyone’s attention. KL Rahul could not do anything special as a batsman in this match, but during the second innings, he did something which the fans had seen earlier in the year 2015.
KL Rahul did this after 11 years
Jammu and Kashmir team managed to gain lead in this match on the basis of first innings, which also confirmed its victory. At the same time, Jammu and Kashmir easily crossed the 300-run mark in its second innings and took a lead of more than 600 runs. In such a situation, the result of this match could not be reached and Jammu and Kashmir’s victory was decided on the basis of first innings, due to which KL Rahul tried his hand at bowling on the last day of the game.
Rahul, who is known for batting and wicketkeeping, also tried his hand at bowling on the last day of the match. When the match was out of hand and the main bowlers of the team were not able to achieve any success, then before the end of the match, Karnataka captain Devdutt Padikkal handed the ball to Rahul. Team India’s star batsman entertained the fans here with his spin bowling. He even looked close to taking a wicket but it could not happen.
Rahul missed the wicket
He bowled the 81st and 83rd overs of the innings. He gave only 3 runs in the first over, but after hitting some boundaries in the second over, he was removed from the attack. Overall, 15 runs were scored in his 2 overs and no wicket was taken. On one occasion, he took an edge against Sahil Lotra, but Mayank Agarwal dropped the catch at slip. Let us tell you, KL Rahul bowled in first class cricket after 11 years, before this this scene was seen in the year 2015. Rahul has not got a single first class wicket in his career and he was close to taking a wicket for the first time but it could not happen due to Mayank’s mistake.
Karnataka team lost
This match was nothing special for the Karnataka team. Jammu and Kashmir had scored 584 runs in the first innings, while Karnataka’s first innings was limited to 293 runs. KL Rahul could not do anything special with the bat and was out after scoring 13 runs in 39 balls. Due to which the team had to face defeat on the basis of first innings.
