Kolkata: The Election Commission released the final voter list on Saturday. But this list is not complete yet. In Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s assembly seat Bhawanipur, names of more than 47 thousand voters have been removed from the list. Not only this, more than 14 thousand names are still pending, the decision on which is yet to be taken. This means that more names may still be cut.
Names of more than 47 thousand voters deleted from Bhawanipur till now
When the process of SIR (Summary Intensive Revision) started, the Commission had said that there are a total of 2,06,295 voters in Bhawanipur Assembly. When the draft list came on December 16, names of 44,786 people were removed from it. Now 2,324 more names were deleted from the final list. Overall, names of 47,094 voters have been removed from Bhawanipur seat so far. As mentioned, the names of many voters are still under investigation, so this number may increase further.
In the 2021 assembly elections, TMC candidate Shobhandev Chattopadhyay won from Bhawanipur seat by more than 28 thousand votes. Later, after taking oath as the Chief Minister, he vacated this seat for Mamata Banerjee. In the by-election held after this, Mamata Banerjee had won a big victory from here by more than 58 thousand votes.
65 lakh names removed from voter list of West Bengal
The final list of SIR was released for the entire state on Saturday. Talking about the entire West Bengal, till now about 65 lakh names have been removed from the voter list. At the same time, the documents of more than 60 lakh voters are yet to be examined and decided. It is not yet decided whether the names of these voters will remain in the list or not.
Voters can check their status on the main website of the Election Commission, eci.gov.in, the website of the State Election Officer and the ECI Net app. By going to the website or app and entering your name and EPIC number (Voter Card Number), your status will be visible in the list. If there is no problem, your name will appear as normal. If the investigation is still going on, ‘Adjudication’ will be written below the name. And if the name has been deleted, ‘Deleted’ will be visible.
