Kakinada : 18 people are feared dead due to a massive explosion and fire in a firecracker factory in Kakinada district of Andhra Pradesh. Many people have been seriously injured in the accident, who have been admitted to nearby hospitals for treatment. It is being told that there was a sudden explosion in the firecracker factory and within no time the fire engulfed the entire factory. As soon as the news was received, the fire brigade team reached the spot and after much effort brought the fire under control. Most of those who died are said to be factory workers.

The accident took place on Saturday afternoon at Vetlapalem-G in Samarlakota mandal of Kakinada district. It happened in a firecracker factory in the middle of Medupadu. The explosion was so powerful that the bodies of the workers flew into the fields hundreds of feet away. This factory is said to belong to the family of Adapa Nani living on Pedapudi Road. After the blast the entire area was filled with thick smoke.
The real reason for this terrible explosion is not yet known. About 30 people were working in the factory at the time of the accident. Officials reached the spot and ordered an investigation to find out the cause of the accident. After this incident, there is mourning in the entire district. It is expected that the government will soon announce compensation for the families of those who died.
