Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) created history and won their maiden
title. It was a dream come true for Jammu and Kashmir in the Ranji Trophy 2025-2026 as they reached their maiden final and went on to win the title.
The game against Karnataka ended as a draw, and J&K were declared the winners based on the first innings lead. It was a remarkable turnaround for a team that was not taken seriously for most of their 66-year-old tournament history, but the team proved that their time has come now. This final was their 346th match in Ranji history, and only their 47th match win. Throughout the season, Jammu and Kashmir lost just one match, which came in Srinagar against Mumbai.
The star for the historic title is , who ended up as the leading wicket-taker for the team, with 60 wickets in the season and led the team to triumph. He became only the third pacer in the tournament history to take 60 or more wickets in the Ranji season.
Jammu Kashmir dominated the final and posted a first innings score of 584, courtesy of Shubham Pundir’s century. Karnataka had the likes of KL Rahul, Mayank Agarwal, Devdutt Padikkal, and Karun Nair, but they had no answers to the stunning J&K attack. Auqib Nabi picked a fifer, and Karnataka could only score 293 – 160 of which were scored by Mayank Agarwal. In the second innings, Jammu Kashmir captain Paras Dogra declared at 342-4, with Qamran Iqbal making 160, and Jammu Kashmir won its maiden title.
