Jammu & Kashmir script history, clinch first-ever Ranji Trophy title

New Delhi: Jammu & Kashmir scripted history as they brought an end to a 67-year-long wait for their maiden Ranji Trophy title on Saturday, February 28. J&K rode on pacer Auqib Nabi’s brilliant fifer and a sensational performance from their batters to win the Ranji Trophy 2025-26 final against Karnataka courtesy of their massive first-innings lead in the drawn contest.

Jammu & Kashmir declared their second innings on 342/5 at the end of Day 5’s play at the KSCA Hubli Cricket Ground in Hubli on Saturday. Opener Kamran Iqbal slammed an unbeaten 160 off 311 balls while Sahil Lotra scored 101 off 226 balls in the second innings. J&K amassed a lead of whopping 633 runs in their second innings to clinch the contest comprehensively.

Shubham Pundir’s century and fifties from as many as five other batters powered Jammu & Kashmir to a massive total of 584/10 in their first innings in the final. Nabi continued his impressive run with the ball to help J&K bundle out Karnataka for 293 runs in their first innings to secure a huge lead.
