Zeenat Aman Is ‘Proud’ Of Women-Led Projects Today, Compares ‘Heroines’ Shorter Shelf Life’ Back In 1970s

recently compared the current trend in the film industry with the one during her time. In a conversation with a leading news portal, the actress gave her views on how different stages of a woman’s life change her role and relevance in the industry.

She called the shelf life of a heroine in her times to be short as she expressed being proud to see more women on board these days. She is often seen pin-pointing the Hindi film industry while protecting women’s dignity and slamming the makers along with audience who enjoy women being sl*t-shamed in films.

In a recent interview with IANS, Zeenat Aman spoke on the life span of actresses through different stages of her life. She mentioned the fact that women still get ‘good’ roles even after marrying and/or having children which is not like the time when she was in the industry where staying relevant was an effort because of the shorter shelf life. “I am very proud of the fact that a lot of girls, a lot of women are seen on sets these days. In my era, there were no girls working. There was only me and my hairdresser,” she added.

Giving the reference of her recent work in The Royals, an OTT web series, Zeenat explained that she was ‘proud’ seeing more females in the team comparing to the older times when it used to be just her and the hairdresser. “So this is a very beautiful change that has come,” she concluded.
