The raging military conflict between Pakistan and Afghanistan has brought the region into a war-like situation. There are reports of more than 300 deaths and more than 500 injuries from both sides. Retaliatory action, airstrikes and drone attacks have turned the border areas into battlefields. Meanwhile, former US President Donald Trump said that Pakistan is “performing well” and America can intervene if needed. On the other hand, Pakistan has further stoked the controversy by alleging India’s role in the terrorist attacks. The Pakistani Army has claimed airstrikes in several Afghan provinces under ‘Operation Ghazab-lil-Haq’, while the Taliban has claimed retaliatory attacks and the loss of Pakistani soldiers. Drone attacks, Parliament resolutions and allegations of targeting nuclear sites have made the situation extremely sensitive.
