When is Rang Panchami 2026?

According to religious texts, the festival of Rang Panchami is celebrated on the fifth day of Krishna Paksha of Chaitra month. This time this date will start from 07:17 pm on Saturday, March 07 and will continue till 09:11 pm on Sunday, March 08. Since the sunrise of Panchami Tithi will be on Sunday, March 8, the festival of Rang Panchami will be celebrated on this day.

Why celebrate Rangpanchami?

According to popular stories, there was a demon named Hiranyakashipu who considered Lord Vishnu as his enemy. But his son Prahlad was a great devotee of Lord Vishnu. When Hiranyakashipu came to know about this, he made several attempts to kill his son but he failed. At last he made Prahlad sit in the fire along with his sister Holika to kill him. Prahlad and Holika remained sitting in the fire for 5 days. During this time Holika died and Prahlad survived. When people saw this, they were filled with enthusiasm and joy and everyone celebrated with colors. Since then the festival of Rangpanchami is being celebrated.

World famous fair comes out in Indore

On the occasion of Rangpanchami, a traditional procession is taken out in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. This event is organized by the local administration only. The special thing is that 4 to 5 lakh people participate in Gair. This is the reason why this place has been included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. Presently it has become the identity of non-Indore.
