On 27 February 2026, the Afghan Taliban claimed air strikes on Pakistan. Pakistan said small drones were shot down and there was no damage. Now questions are being raised on Islamabad’s defense system and China connection.
Afghanistan-Pakistan Tension: The Afghanistan-based Taliban Defense Ministry claimed that the Afghan Air Force carried out drone attacks on several military targets including Pakistan’s capital Islamabad. Tension increased in the area after this claim. However, Pakistan has rejected these allegations.
Taliban’s claim: Which places were attacked?
According to the Taliban, the locations targeted by the Afghan Air Force at around 11 pm. Islamabad also includes the military camp located near Faizabad. Apart from this, Nowshera includes Army Cantonment, Military Colony of Jamrud and Military Base of Abbottabad. The Taliban say that these attacks were in response to earlier air strikes by Pakistan.
Pakistan’s side: Drone dropped, no damage
Pakistani officials denied the Taliban’s claims. A Pakistani minister said that some small drones were trying to attack, but they were shot down by anti-drone systems. At the same time, the government says that there was no major attack nor was there any loss of life or property. International media reports also said that the drones were intercepted and there was no major damage.
Question on Afghanistan’s Air Force
This claim is also shocking because Afghanistan does not have a strong and modern air force. According to experts, due to mostly old helicopters, limited number of drones and lack of modern fighter jets, can a large-scale air attack really be possible or is it possible to use only small drones in this attack?
Who attacked first?
According to Taliban, on February 22, Pakistan had carried out air strikes in provinces like Nangarhar Paktik of Afghanistan. The Taliban claimed that 18 civilians were killed in these attacks. A separate statement was given on this from Pakistan side. The Taliban has described the alleged attack of February 27 as a response to the same action.
