New Delhi: A powerful earthquake hit Kolkata on Friday afternoon. Tremors were felt across the city. Panic-stricken people rushed out of their residential buildings and office premises after the quake.
The earthquake, measuring 4.9 magnitude on the Richter scale, struck at around 1.22 pm with its epicentre located just 3 km from Bangladesh near the India-Bangladesh border.
