New Delhi: In a video that has gone viral over the internet, people can be seen looting packets of sweets and other food which had been discarded into dustbins by the officials of the food safety department. The video is from Uttar Pradesh’s Hapur.
Food Department seized food from shopkeepers
According to reports, the food department had seized the adulterated food from various sweets shops and other establishments in the city during a raid. This raid was carried out days ahead of the Holi festival.

As the celebrations approach, there are several cases of adulterated food items filling in the markets across India. In order to check the sale of spoilt and stale food items on the occasion of Holi, the food department carried out this raid. They even managed to seize the bad items. But unfortunately, they could not stop its consumption, at least not completely.
Video shows people looting food from public dustbin
As the food department officials left the place after disposing off the expired sweets, a crowd gathered near the area. The locals were seen retrieving the expired sweets from the bin and carrying them home.
A man who got a full box of sweets can be seen happily running in joy. He even offers some of his ‘prized find’ to others standing a few steps away.
As the video went viral, people filled the comments sections with questions regarding the protocol for disposal of seized items in such raids. Some others reacted to the video with sarcasm, calling people who looted the items shameless.
