Yogi govt announces 3-day Holi holiday in UP; salary to be disbursed before festival

New Delhi: In good news for 17 lakh government employees in Uttar Pradesh, the Yogi Adityanath-led government has announced a three-day holiday for the festival of Holi.

In a directive issued on Friday, the state government stated that employees will get a three-day holiday for Holi from March 2 to 4. “All employees will get a holiday on March 3. Holidays for Holi will be on March 2, 3, and 4,” the order stated. The employees will get off for four consecutive days, as it is Sunday on March 1.

The government also instructed all employers to ensure that the salaries of all employees are disbursed before Holi. If further directed the officials to ensure that salaries of all outsourced, contractual, and sanitation workers are disbursed before Holi. “No negligence of any kind will be tolerated,” the order read.

The government, however, declared Saturday, February 28, as a working day.
